Momentum Carnivore Nutrition was built on a philosophy that started long before pet food entered the picture. Founder Jeff Maretti owned a local Italian deli, where his approach was simple: quality ingredients, fair prices, and exceptional service. Those same principles still guide everything we do today.

Jeff’s daughter Toni grew up on a hobby farm in Wisconsin, surrounded by animals – longhorn cattle, horses, dogs, barn cats, even a pony – where caring for animals and feeding them well was just part of everyday life.

In 2013, Toni joined the business to expand the product line, evolve the brand, and bring Momentum to pet stores nationwide. By 2017, she and her husband, Rob, took full ownership of both the manufacturing facility and the Momentum brand, continuing the mission to provide accessible, high-quality carnivore nutrition for dogs and cats.

In 2022, Rob Mellem, Liz Schmitt, and Greg Perkins of the Packer Mellem Sales team joined the ownership group – bringing together freeze-dry manufacturing expertise with dedicated, boots-on-the-ground support for independent pet retailers. The result is a brand that not only makes its own products in a family-owned facility, but actively supports the neighborhood stores that help pet parents make better choices every day.

Today, Momentum offers a growing lineup of single-ingredient freeze-dried treats for dogs and cats, limited-ingredient training bites, air-dried Icelandic fish chews, and bulk freeze-dried chews for dogs – with much more on the way. Every product is made with real animal protein, no fillers, and no artificial additives.

Nearly 30 years in, what drives us hasn’t changed: real ingredients, fair prices, and strong partnerships with the independent pet retailers who believe in better nutrition – just like we do.
